Saikun Shi

I am a PhD candidate in Political Economics at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. My research explores public opinion and political behavior at the intersection of economics, policy, and political institutions: whether average voters can judge and discipline technocratic government, how individuals’ interactions with the economy and their labor-market experiences shape political attitudes and behavior, and how candidates’ strategies and changing information environments reshape what information reaches the public in the first place. My work combines survey experiments, administrative data, and computational social science methods — grounded in formal modeling and the quantitative training of economics — to rigorously examine the mechanisms behind political behavior.
